    Greetings Colleagues, 

    Please join me in thanking Dr. Joe Seabrooks for serving as the Vice-Convener and Dr. Larry Johnson for serving as the Membership Chair over the past two years. We have appreciated their leadership and contributions to the Presidents' Round Table.

    Nominations for Executive Board is Open 

    As we approach the new round of Executive Board membership, we are thrilled to invite wo are interested in joining the board and who wish to recommended potential candidates. Nominations for the positions for Membership Chair and Vice-Convener are now open. The duties for each of the positions are listed below.


    Membership Chair / PRT Directory Coordinator 

    • Serve on the Executive Board
    • Serve as the chair of membership committee 
    • Develop and implement strategies to increase membership
    • Collect and assemble information for the biennial publication of the Round Table Directory 

    Vice Convener

    • Serve on the Executive Board 
    • Attend Executive Board and membership meetings
    • Serve as the Convener in the absence of the Convener
    • Serve as the chair of the Nominating Committee
    • Serve as the liaison between PRT and the National Council of Black American Affairs 
    • Support the vision of the organization in pursuit of its mission.

    Greetings Colleagues, 

    Welcome to a new year in another meaningful season of work. Among the many priorities clamoring for your attention, please note the following. The April AACC annual meeting is just around the corner and the 2023 Board of Directors leadership ballot has been sent to your email.

    Voting is an important opportunity to make a difference. I urge urge you to do so and I recommend that you consider supporting the following candidates: Patricia Sims, President of Drake State Community and Technical College in Alabama,  and Jermaine Whirl, President of Augusta Technical College in Georgia.

    For those planning to attend AACC Conference in Denver, Colorado, make every effort to participate in the PRT 40th Reunion Year Reception on Saturday, April 1, and our Breakfast Business meeting on Monday, April 3. More details to follow. 

    And finally, as the world celebrates Black Histroy Month, I join you 24/, 365 days a year in a continious celebration for men and women who have gone on before us. Building on the firm foundation of those pioneers, may we to be remembered for our commitment, diligence, and determination to help achieve opportunity for all.

    The Presidents' Round is seeking a part-time Executive Director to play a crucial role in the implementation of its Strategic Plan. 

    In this remote position, you will work closely with the Executive Board to support PRT's mission, which includes identifying and responding to challenges faced by administrators in community colleges. Your responsibilities will encompass:

    • Financial Management 
    • Maintaining the associations website and social media presence
    • Providing membership support services 
    • Collaborating with various PRT Board Committees

    If you are passionate about supporting community college leaders and driving positive change, we encourage you to apply for this impactful role as Executive Director of PRT.

    Application can be send to Dr. L. Marshall Washington, Convener of the PRT and Search Committee Chair, at lmwashington@kvcc.edu with a deadline for consideration by August 25, 2023.

    Thomas Lakin Institute for Mentored Leadership 

    October 15-20, 2023 | Kansas City, MO

    The Institute offers a unique transformative experience designed to foster personal professional growth for selected people who have shown a capability for broader leadership roles in the community college sector. Applications are open and we encourage senior level executives to take advantage of this professional development opportunity.

    Men of Character Student Leadership Institute

    October 19-22, 2023 | Kanas City, MO

    MOSCLI is an empowering event that provides an immersive and enriching experience for PRT members to engage with students in various workshops, group discussions, forums, and social events. If you know a promising student that would benefit from this event, please let them know applications are live on our website.

    Greeting Colleagues 

    We have had a remarkable start to the beginning of the academic year and here we are preparing for the holidays. I'm proud of the way we pulled together and worked together remaining focused on the Thomas L. Lakin Institute for Mentored Leadership, Men of Character Leadership, and the PRT fall business meeting held in Pittsburgh, PA. In addition, we are excited to have hosted a virtual networking sharing event for RT retirees, exploring the topic of Legacy. 

    Please remember to stay current with your membership dues. The PRT is planning for the AACC Convention with an awesome opportunity to celebrate forty years of existence. Mark your calendar for Sunday, April 2, 2023, at 5 p.m. in Denver, CO, for the "PRT Reunion Year Reception" We plan to celebrate the many successes of PRT as we continue to seek to ensure equal access to opportunities for member and CEOs by leveraging their combined knowledge, networks, and experience. 

    I'm requesting that you please create you profile for the online directory for PRT. Detailed instructions are below. 

    The new year will bring challlenges of its own, and I want us to be rejuvenated and ready to embrace what lies ahead. Our students and communites count o us. I'm looking forward to the future and out continued commitment to the work of PRT and assisting others. 

    However you chose to celebrate the holidays, so so with gratitude, thankfulness, and anticipation for the opportunity to do more, be more, and help more during 2023.
